WWI
I have always been interested in warfare and how batlle have been fought over the years. My one true interest is the weapons with which these wars are fought, because in most cases they represent the finest technological advances of the time. WWI saw the birth of some of the most influncial weapons in following history such as the tank and the airplane (or as the british call it, aeroplane). However WWI also saw the development of poisonous gas as a weapon. I knew it was first used by the Germans against the frence, however i was surprised to learn that in the Triple Alliance's rush to put into effect their own poison gas, they new stopped to think if they should and when first deployed, it backfired and killed several of their own men. I was amazed at how this weapon was introduced; and down right shocked by the trial and error methods they used to develop it. Eventually the Alliance got it right and effectly used it as a weapon of war, primarily against German troops in trenches. The posion gas clouds would dip into trenches very effectively and kill everyone occupying them. Luckily, since then poison gas use has been outlawed by the Geneva Convention, however it was born in WWI and has became one of the most deadly killers in warfare. -Zach B

I though of the Holocaust when I read "Poison Gas". But the Germans also used "Flamethrowers", which sound like those fireworks that you hold in your hand.
Zach-I think the different kind of weapons used are fascinating, too. From being an Army brat, I know a lot about tanksand airplanes. My dad used to jump out of airplanes in the 82nd and I've gotten the chance to ride in a tank, they are very cramped, I don't like them one bit haha. It's very unfortunate that the Triple Alliance coudn't figureout how to use poisonous gas the first couple of times.
